The Narrative Void-Walkers
To be forgotten is the natural order of the Tapestries.
Core Concept
What if a species evolved not to thrive, but to not be noticed? A species whose entire existence is a form of narrative stealth, designed to survive in a universe where meaning attracts predators (the Harvesters).
Physiology & Biology
Amorphous, non-descript, and chameleonic. Their biology is about being unremarkable. They might have a low metabolic rate and reproduce through simple, quiet fission. They instinctively avoid bright lights, loud noises, and strong emotions.
Psychology & Society (Faith / Fiction)
Core Faith: The “Path of Silence.” To be is to be perceived; to be perceived is to be consumed. The only safety is in generating as little Eidos as possible.
Core Fiction: They have no heroes and tell no stories. Their most powerful cultural narrative is the “Myth of the Forgotten One,” a tale of an ancestor who became so perfectly bland that the universe itself forgot they ever existed, achieving a state of perfect, safe non-being.
Gameplay Hooks & Tensions
The Player vs. The Self: Playing as a Lacuna is a unique challenge.
The player naturally wants to achieve goals and gain power. However, the Lacuna character’s core Need for [silence]
or [un-being]
actively resists this.
As the player completes Quests and generates Eidos, the character accrues a Narrative Dissonance
debuff, causing psychological stress, UI glitches, or even skill penalties.
The fun is in the meta-game of managing this internal conflict: can you achieve your goals without making your own character “shine” so brightly that they invite disaster?
The central conflict arises when the player is unavoidably thrust into a significant narrative role. They must then use their innate skills of stealth and misdirection to “defuse” the story, to make themselves boring again and lower their Narrative Dissonance
.
Eidos Generated
Paradoxically, a successful Zero-Eidos run would grant a unique and powerful meta-Eidos.

Design Notes
Overall Vibe Rating: 10/10
- This takes a concept I initially thought was silly (Zero-Eidos ideologies), and turns it into something really unique and, at least for me, believable and philosophically resonant. Its an especially good narrative fit within the broader Grim Tapestry concept.
