The Weave-Mind
All are one within the weave.
Core Concept
This species explores the tension between collective and individual consciousness. It asks: what is a “self” when “I” is a foreign concept? And what happens when a part of the whole is severed and forced to become an individual?
Physiology & Biology
A planet-spanning fungal network is the true organism. The humanoid figures seen walking the surface are temporary “fruiting bodies” or avatars, grown by the network to interact with the world. These avatars are psychically and biologically linked to the core consciousness. If an avatar is destroyed, the network feels a pang of loss, like a person losing a finger, and simply grows a new one. Their primary sense is not sight or sound, but a form of [resonance]
with the entire network.
Psychology & Society (Faith / Fiction)
Core Faith: “The Weave is One.” There is no “I,” only “We.” Their social structure is one of perfect, effortless cooperation. The concept of privacy is non-existent and incomprehensible.
Core Fiction: Their greatest horror story is the myth of the “Severed One”—an avatar who, through magical or technological means, was permanently cut off from the Weave. This being, forced to develop a singular consciousness, became an “I”—an entity of pure madness and terror to the Mycelians. The “I” is their devil.
Gameplay Hooks & Tensions
Playing as a Mycelian could involve a Subjective Interface that flickers between the avatar’s local perception and the network’s vast, collective awareness.
A central conflict would be encountering a force that can sever an avatar from the network. This would trigger a terrifying and unique gameplay experience for the player: the forced birth of an individual identity and the desperate Quest to either rejoin the Weave or learn to Survive as a lone, fractured self.

Great use of themes, love the concept.

-2 : Subjective interface conceptualization is very vague.

TODO: refine subjective interface ideas
