The Sovereign of Cinder

I am the only story that matters.

Core Principle: The absolute sovereignty of the Self. Nyx is the ultimate expression of the individual will, a being who has rejected the shared reality of the Tapestry in favor of a universe built in her own image.

Nature: A Heretic Eidolon. As detailed in the Heresy of Nyx, she was a fractured mortal who, through a supreme act of psychological self-authorship, transformed the trauma of her past into the fuel for a new, self-made divinity. She did not ascend; she conquered her own soul and declared it a god.

Theology & Worshipers: Nyx’s followers are not a community, but a collection of acolytes bound by her charismatic gravity. They are the Solipsids who see her as proof of their philosophy, the narcissists drawn to her power, and the broken who see her path as a tempting alternative to healing. To worship Nyx is to believe in your own absolute right to exist, dominate, and define reality.

Metaphysical Domain: Her domain is the Psyche. Her power is one of narrative domination. She can peer into the minds of others, identify the cracks in their self-narrative, and exploit those weaknesses with surgical precision. Her influence turns allies against each other and transforms faith into doubt. Her Tapestry, Cinder, is a world where these principles are the laws of physics.

Known Artifacts:

  • The Mirror of Self: An artifact that does not reflect your image, but projects the wielder’s. It forces any who look upon it to perceive the wielder through the lens of their own Faith. A wielder who sees themself as a god will be seen as a god, a powerful tool of psychic domination.

Gameplay Hooks:

  • Nyx can serve as a dark patron for a player pursuing a “rotten thread,” offering power and insight in exchange for acts that align with her nihilistic worldview.
  • She could be the ultimate social “boss,” a being who cannot be defeated with weapons, but only by an Incarnation who has achieved perfect internal narrative coherence and can withstand her attempts to shatter their psyche.
  • A player might discover the original, uncensored “Book of Nyx,” an artifact that offers immense power but risks infecting the player’s own Incarnation with the Heresy’s cognito-hazardous logic.
