A species that has evolved a complex, non-verbal language based on intricate, shifting patterns of light projected from their skin. They embody emotional transparency and the challenge of communicating across fundamentally different sensory modalities.

Graceful, perhaps amphibious or cephalopodic humanoids. Their skin is a sophisticated biological display, a network of chromatophores capable of producing a rich “visual speech” of color, rhythm, and pattern. Their “voice” is a symphony of light.

Psychology & Society (Faith / Fiction)

**Core [[Faith]]**: Because their emotional and cognitive states are broadcast visually, deception is culturally abhorrent and nearly impossible among their own kind. They value emotional honesty and transparency above all else.

**Core [[Fiction]]**: Their creation myth describes the universe beginning with a single, silent flash of light, the "First Expression"; from which all other patterns and meanings unfolded. They see all light as a sacred echo of this first moment.

Gameplay Hooks & Tensions

The [[Converse]] system for a Lumin player would be entirely unique, perhaps a pattern-matching or color-mixing minigame to construct "light-phrases."

They are natural empaths, able to read the emotional states of other beings with great clarity, but they struggle immensely to understand beings who communicate with "dead air" (sound) and whose faces are opaque masks. [[Trade]] and [[Negotiate]] with other species would be incredibly difficult.

Their cities would be silent, built of materials that reflect and refract light, creating a dazzling but eerie environment for other species.
