The Dream-Weavers
This World is merely another Dream, in the Mind of another Sleeping God.
Core Concept
A species that experiences the symbolic, narrative layer of reality (the “Dreaming”) as being more fundamental and real than the physical world. They are natural reality-benders and interpreters of Fictions.
Physiology & Biology
Often physically frail, with bodies that seem secondary to their powerful psychic presence. They may require long periods of sleep or meditation, during which their consciousness actively explores and shapes the narrative undercurrents of the Tapestry.
Psychology & Society (Faith / Fiction)
Core Faith: They believe that physical reality is a temporary, unstable consensus, while the true reality is the world of symbols, myths, and thoughts. Objective Facts are seen as fleeting illusions.
Core Fiction: Their culture revolves around the interpretation of shared dreams and visions. Their leaders are not warriors or politicians, but powerful “Lucid Dreamers” who can navigate and influence the collective unconscious.
Gameplay Hooks & Tensions
The Subjective Interface for an Oneiroi player would constantly blur the line between the physical world and a symbolic, dream-like overlay. They might see another character’s fears as literal phantoms trailing behind them.
Their primary mode of interaction is not Converse but Interpret. They might have the ability to enter the “dreams” of other characters to resolve psychological conflicts or uncover hidden memories, a form of psychic questing.
Their natural enemies are hyper-rational, empirical species like The Unbroken, who see the Oneiroi’s worldview as a dangerous form of madness.
