The Re-Forged
To create is to defy cruel the weave of fate.
Core Concept
A species of formerly Geas-Bound who, through a legendary rebellion, stole the craft of their masters, the Weavers of Obligation. They are now free, but their origin is an indelible part of their being. They express their newfound agency by constantly modifying, augmenting, and re-forging their own bodies, but every new creation is built upon a chassis that still bears the metaphysical “runes of servitude” from their initial creation. Their art is a beautiful, angry graffiti over a contract they can never truly erase.
Physiology & Biology
Their forms are a chaotic and beautiful mix of organic and inorganic parts, constantly being tinkered with. A common feature is the presence of ancient, glowing runes etched deep into their core structure—the “Geas-scars.” These runes cannot be removed and sometimes pulse with a dim light, a ghostly reminder of their past.
Psychology & Society (Faith / Fiction)
Core Faith: They believe that self-authorship is the only meaningful act. They hold a deep-seated hatred for any form of imposed destiny or servitude. Their society values radical individualism and creative expression above all else. This makes them the natural ideological enemies of static, perfection-obsessed empires like the Amaranthine.
Core Fiction: Their founding myth is “The Theft of the Loom,” the story of how their ancestor, the first Rune-Scarred, broke into the workshop of the gods (their former masters) and stole the knowledge of self-creation.
Gameplay Hooks & Tensions
Crafting is the central mechanic for a Rune-Scarred player. Their character progression is tied to physically modifying their own body, adding new limbs, senses, or integrated tools.
The Geas-scars are a source of constant conflict. They might act as a vulnerability, or they might be “hacked” and re-purposed, turning a symbol of servitude into a source of unique power at great risk.
They are ideologically driven to liberate other “enslaved” beings, leading to emergent quests to free Golems, break curses on other Geas-Bound, or dismantle oppressive factions.
