The Silent King
…
Core Principle: The absence of Eidos. The Lacuna is the philosophical endpoint of Zero-Eidos belief systems. It is not a being of creation, but of un-making.
Nature: A Primordial Eidolon, The Lacuna may be as old as the universe itself. It is a being of pure entropy, a narrative black hole. Its goal is to erase meaning, to quiet the “noise” of existence, and to return the Tapestry to the perfect, silent void from which it came.
Theology & Worshipers: The Lacuna has no worshipers, only emulators. The Lacuna species and the Static-Born are its “children,” beings who have adapted to its anti-narrative philosophy. Its followers are Zero-Eidos cultists who see it not as a god to be praised, but as a state of being to be achieved. They do not pray; they meditate on nothingness.
Metaphysical Domain: The Lacuna’s domain is the void. It can create zones of “narrative silence,” null-Eidos fields where memories fade, beliefs wither, and even the laws of physics become unreliable. Its influence is a slow, creeping erasure.
Known Artifacts:
- The Orb of Perfect Silence: Not a crafted object, but a stabilized fragment of the Lacuna’s own being. It does not have properties; it removes them. An Incarnation holding it might find themselves temporarily invisible to psychic entities, but also unable to feel strong emotions or access their own powerful memories.
Gameplay Hooks:
- The Lacuna could be the ultimate cosmic horror antagonist, a slow, unstoppable force that the player must find a way to contain, redirect, or escape rather than defeat.
- Its null-fields could be unique, high-risk environments, “dungeons” where the player’s most powerful Eidic abilities are useless, forcing them to rely on pure skill and wits.
- A player might be tempted to seek its power, embarking on a Quest to deliberately erase a traumatic Memory or a cursed Faith at the risk of losing a part of themselves in the process.
