The Pattern-Born
One’s story is inevitable.
Core Concept
The Thespians choose which role to play, authoring their identity by selecting a mask. The Echoes have no such choice. Their form and destiny are authored for them by the powerful, recurring myths of the Tapestry.
Physiology & Biology
Their physical form is a direct embodiment of a powerful, pre-existing mythic pattern. An Echo is not born randomly; it is generated by the Tapestry itself when a narrative archetype (“The Betrayed King,” “The Loyal Soldier,” “The Scapegoat”) becomes so resonant that it requires a physical vessel to play out its story once again.
Psychology & Society (Faith / Fiction)
Core Faith: They are born with an innate, instinctual understanding of the role they are meant to play. While they possess free will, they feel a constant, powerful “narrative gravity” pulling them toward their archetypal destiny.
Core Fiction: They have no unique creation myth, only the story they are destined to re-enact. Their only hope for a unique identity is to find a “flaw in the script” or a way to perform their role with such a unique flourish that it transforms the story for all future Echoes.
Gameplay Hooks & Tensions
Playing an Echo provides a highly structured, almost “story-mode” experience within the sandbox. Your Incarnation begins with a powerful, pre-defined Quest.
The central conflict is the struggle against determinism. Do you embrace your role and play it to its tragic or heroic conclusion? Or do you fight against the narrative, an act which the Director AI might perceive as a delicious new form of conflict, raising the stakes even further?

Design Notes
Feels a bit too “hand of god” as is but its a cool concept.
